Glucose monitoring is a key aspect of diabetes management. With new technologies on the market, there are more ways to monitor blood glucose than ever. A1C is still the standard metric, but it can only measure long-term trends: with CGM, it is now possible to understand how immediate and short-term decisions affect blood glucose.1
To reflect the changing technologies that measure blood glucose, Diabetes Canada released an updated terminology in their 2021 Clinical Practice Guidelines. The table below outlines some key changes.
